Inspired by the heartfelt stories of the challenges children face in accessing quality education in Peru, especially in Ayacucho, the hometown of their grandparents — “Abu Marina” (“Mamita Marina”) and “Abu Victor” (“Papito Victor”) — cousins Dylan and Alvaro shared a vision: to honor their family’s roots by giving back to the children of Peru.
Soon enough, their idea sparked the passion of their other cousins — Laura, Diego, Kimberly, Sofie Luz, and Nery — who joined the mission with the same love and determination.
What started as an idea born in family has grown into a collective commitment to provide education, health, and hope for children in underserved communities. PeCHE is more than a foundation — it is a legacy of family, memory, and the belief that together, we can build brighter futures.
Peruvian Children Health and Education was founded by the Skladany and Díaz families, inspired by the legacy of the Ciprian-Ayala family and their journey of perseverance, education, and hope.
The story begins with our grandparents, Marina and Victor Ciprian Ayala, who were born in the Peruvian highlands (“la sierra”) and moved to Lima as children. Despite coming from families with little formal education—only one of their parents could read or write—they both pursued learning with determination. “Abu Victor” completed high school, joined the Peruvian Navy, and specialized in radar electronics. “Abu Marina” became an elementary school teacher, dedicating her career to educating children in underserved areas of Lima.
Together, they raised seven children — Gloria, Marina, Rosa, Maria, Flor, Julio, and Miluska — all of whom went on to higher education and professional success, with two earning doctoral degrees. Today, their descendants live across Peru, Spain, and the United States.
The grandchildren — now the Skladany and Díaz families — grew up hearing how education transformed their family’s future. Inspired by that example, they founded Peruvian Children Health and Education to help children in rural communities across Peru access the same opportunities through education, school supplies, and warm clothing for the cold Andean winters.
Our mission is to empower children to dream big, work hard, and believe in the power of education to change their lives — just as it changed ours.
